Dr. Franz Holeczke Young Investigator Award 2026
The Dr.-Franz-Holeczke-Young Investigator Award (Holeczke-YIA) of the VMSÖ is awarded by the Austrian Society for Radiation Protection in Medicine since 1994 to young researchers and users of ionizing radiation in medicine who have distinguished themselves through outstanding scientific achievements in the field of radiation protection in medicine. The award is intended to honor work which is concerned with the optimization and reduction of dose in applications of ionizing radiation.
Eligible works are: Accepted original research papers, Dissertations and Diploma thesis (no BSc thesis) which have been accepted in the years 2025 and 2026.
Eligible to be nominated for the Holeczke-YIA is only the main author (for original papers, the first author), who shall not be older than 34 years until Dec-31, 2026. The main work needs to have been conducted in Europe (except Russian Federation and Belarus). Decisions on eligibility and the awarding will be taken by the prize committee.
The Holeczke-YIA is awarded with a 2500€ prize money.
The prize will be handed over at the annual congress of the VMSÖ, where the award winner will have to present his work during the ceremony. This years ceremony will take place on Nov. 7, 2026 in the frame of the Wiener Radiologischen Symposium in Vienna, Austria.
